$2,000 Stimulus Check in November 2025? Don't Get Your Hopes Up, Suckers
Okay, so the internet's buzzing again about a possible $2,000 stimulus check hitting bank accounts this November. November 2025, to be exact. Let's be real: if you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you. A really nice bridge.
The IRS? They're saying nada. Congress? Crickets. KTVU—yeah, I actually checked a local news station for this garbage—basically said the same thing. No new stimulus checks authorized. Period. So where's this coming from?
Trump's Tariff Shenanigans
Ah, here we go. Trump's floating another one of his "genius" ideas: a tariff dividend. Apparently, all that money he's been raking in from tariffs on imported goods? He wants to give some of it back to the people. At least $2,000 a head, not counting the "high income people." Right.
Give me a break.
First of all, it's just a proposal. A tweet, more like it. Or a Truth Social post, whatever that is. Second, even if he was serious, where's the money actually coming from?
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent—whoever that is—was already walking it back, saying the $2,000 figure "could come in lots of forms." Translation: "Don't hold us to that number, folks. We just made it up."
And let's look at the math. Trump's collected around $220 billion in tariff revenue. Okay, sounds like a lot. But there are what, 163 million tax filers? That $2,000 a pop adds up to over $300 billion. So, where's the extra $80 billion going to magically appear from?

He says he'll exclude the wealthy. Sure, but where's the cutoff? $100k? $200k? And even then, is there enough money? And offcourse, even if there was, that's assuming the Supreme Court doesn't decide that Trump's been illegally using emergency powers to impose some of these tariffs. If that happens, he's gotta give the money back to the businesses he stole it from in the first place.
I mean, are we really supposed to believe he's going to start paying down the national debt with the "leftover" money? The guy who added trillions to it in the first place?
Scam Alert: They're Coming For Your Info
Here's the real kicker: while you're all sitting around hoping for a free $2,000, the scammers are already out in force. Fake emails, texts, social media posts... they're all promising you a stimulus check if you just click this link and enter your bank account details.
Don't fall for it. The IRS never initiates contact through email, text, or social media. They send you a letter. A real, physical letter. And even then, you should be suspicious.
The IRS is basically begging people to be careful. Verify everything. Go to IRS.gov. Don't click on random links. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
I swear, people never learn. It's like they're actively trying to get scammed. Maybe I'm just getting old and cranky. Or maybe... maybe the scammers are just getting really, really good.
